Submitting a project gives you a chance to meet with buyers and commissioners from major broadcasters and digital platforms from Asia and beyond.
Tailored one-to one meetings with international decision makers are available to pitchers selected to get straight into creative and financial discussions.
We are looking for strong projects, with appeal to Asian broadcasters, co-producers or other funders.
They can be one-offs, series, mini-series or short formats. Transmedia/interactive projects are also accepted.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

Asian Side of the Doc is now seeking proposals for one-offs, feature-length documentaries, series, short formats, new media narratives and multi-platform content projects with global appeal in a vast array of genres:

  • History, Archeology & Heritage
  • Discovery & Lifestyle (Fashion, Gastronomy, Travel…)
  • Human Interest & Social Issues
  • Nature, Science & Environment

The 2020 Call for Projects is open to all talents, authors, producers, directors, digital creators, games & interactive designers with the ambition to join the international documentary market.
We accept submissions from all countries – including emerging markets – as long as they are written in English.

Projects in development or production will be assessed and shortlisted based on the following criteria:

  • The strength and originality of the story
  • The international potential
  • The unbiased quality of information
  • The evidence of social impact
  • The commitment to diversity and inclusion.

WHY SUBMIT?

  • A pitch consists in a 15-minute presentation of a new factual programme in front of leading buyers and financers in the field (7’ for the project pitch including trailer and 8’ for live Q&A with decision makers).
  • Tailored one-to-one meetings with key decision makers are organized for pitchers selected to get straight into creative and financial discussions.
  • The best pitched projects will be awarded by our sponsors, in cash and/or in kind (list of awards to be confirmed).

Go to our professional space to register your project online and validate it.

Submit online

After validating your project, go to your personal space to submit your project to the event.

READY TO SUBMIT YOUR PROJECT?

All full paper submissions will be peer reviewed and evaluated based on originality, technical and/or research content/depth, correctness, relevance to conference, contributions, and readability. English is the official language of the conference. We welcome paper submissions. Prospective authors are invited to submit full (and original research) papers (which is NOT submitted or published or under consideration anywhere in other conferences/journal) in electronic (DOC or PDF) format.

Requirements

Elements required for submission through your professional account:

ELIGIBLE PROJECTS

  • Participant must have previously registered for Asian Side of the Doc 2020.
  • Projects should be in advanced development: at least 30% of the budget already confirmed
  • If aiming at completion funding, you can already be in production or postproduction.
  • A 2-4 minute trailer with English subtitles is required.
  • Provide a proof of the confirmed participation of at least one partner: broadcaster, distributor, supporting fund, foundation, crowdfunding, new platforms, museums, brands…
  • Submit projects at the latest by (information soon)

IMPORTANT: In order to qualify for the Asian Side’s pitch selection, entrants must comply with THE MAJORITY of the eligibility requirements mentioned above.


SUBMISSIONS RULES

Submissions will be in English. You will have to upload the following elements online:

– Synopsis in English (300 characters spaces included)
– Treatment (700 characters spaces included)
– Project HD picture (300 dpi)
– Trailer (max. 5 GB). Formats accepted: MOV, AVI, MP4, MPEG-2, 3GP, AAC, FLV (M4V is not accepted) 
Please use Firefox or Google Chrome to upload your video. Safari is not recommended.
– 1 PDF file with:  synopsis, budget, funding plan, commitment letters, treatment, short biographies of the author-director and presentation of the producer.  And all the information that you consider useful in order to help the jury assessing  your project.
