Panel: The Rise of Regional Streaming Services (OTT/SVOD)
It is early days in the Asian video-on-demand space but already the battle for dominance from rival OTT / SVOD services has begun. In what is already a crowded market place, local pan Asian services such as Iflix, HOOQ and Viu are battling for audiences with the international giants Netflix, Amazon and Hulu. With Media Partners Asia estimating that Asian OTT subscription revenues will rise to $12.4 billion by 2020 and reach audiences of over 200 million, local players are strategically shaping their content offerings to include Hollywood, Bollywood, Korean and local content to appeal to and grow local audiences whilst simultaneously offering international potential.
